SHOPIFY
Shopify stores that don't look templated.
Shopify handles payments, tax, and fulfilment well. What it does not do is make your brand distinctive. We build custom themes and sections that keep the platform's reliability and drop the stock-theme feel.

WHAT'S INCLUDED
What shopify development covers.
Custom themes and apps on Shopify and Shopify Plus.
Custom theme development
Themes built to your design rather than a marketplace theme bent into shape.
Editable sections
Flexible sections so your team can compose new landing pages without developer time.
App evaluation and setup
An honest look at which apps earn their subscription and their performance cost.
Storefront performance
Script auditing, image handling, and theme cleanup to undo accumulated app bloat.
Checkout extensions
Checkout customisation and upsell logic within Shopify's supported extension points.
Migration to Shopify
Products, customers, orders, content, and redirects moved with rankings protected.
PROBLEMS WE SOLVE
Sound familiar?
These are the situations clients describe when they come to us for this work.
The store looks like every other store using the same theme.
A dozen installed apps have quietly tripled page weight.
Any new landing page has to be requested from a developer.
The theme has been edited so many times nobody knows what is safe to change.
BENEFITS
What you get out of it.
A store that looks like you
Custom sections and styling instead of a recognisable marketplace theme.
Lighter pages
Removing unused apps and scripts usually recovers more speed than any single optimisation.
Marketing can move
New campaign pages get assembled from existing sections in minutes.
Maintainable theme code
Structured, documented theme code your next developer can safely work in.
DELIVERABLES
Typical deliverables.
These are possible deliverables, not a bundled promise. Your proposal names the files, functionality, review rounds and handover included.
- Custom Shopify theme with documented sections
- App stack review with performance and cost notes
- Product, collection, cart, and checkout templates
- Migration and redirect plan where moving platforms
- Merchandising documentation for the team
- Pre-launch performance and cross-device checks
PROCESS
How the work runs.
Store review
We audit the current theme, app stack, page weight, and where customers are dropping off.
Plan the theme
Sections and templates are specified so the team knows exactly what will be editable.
Build on a preview theme
Work happens on an unpublished theme so the live store is never at risk.
Publish and monitor
We publish during a quiet window, then watch performance and checkout for the first days.
Who is this for?
Shopify can fit a store whose catalogue and order workflows are supported by its platform and app ecosystem.
When a smaller scope may be enough
Complex business rules or unsupported provider requirements may need a different approach. Review constraints before committing to a platform.
What affects the cost?
Theme customization, catalogue migration, apps, market settings and integrations affect the build. Platform subscriptions, app fees and payment charges remain operating costs; an approved provider and supported checkout capabilities matter more than a visual mockup.
Discuss your Shopify storeWhat to bring to the brief
Bring your store access invitation, product data, approved brand assets and fulfilment requirements.

Shopify or custom commerce: what changes?
| Consideration | Shopify | Custom commerce |
|---|---|---|
| Launch scope | Standard platform workflows can reduce setup | Catalogue, checkout and operations must be designed or integrated |
| Customization | Theme, apps and supported platform capabilities | More control, with corresponding development and testing |
| Hosting and maintenance | Hosted platform plus theme/app maintenance | Hosting, application and backend responsibilities must be assigned |
| Payments | Requires an eligible supported provider | Still requires provider approval and integration |
| Ownership and cost | Platform subscription; agree rights to theme work and access | Agree code, data and account rights plus ongoing operating costs |

WHY ZYFISTA
How we work on shopify development.
The same principles run through every engagement, whatever the service.
Strategy before execution
We establish what the site has to achieve before anyone opens a design tool. It is the cheapest stage to change your mind in.
Design that supports business goals
Every page has a job. Layout, hierarchy, and copy are judged on whether they help it do that job.
Development built for scale
Typed, documented code and content models that hold up when the site doubles in size.
SEO considered from day one
Structure, markup, and internal linking are designed in, planned early so content and engineering support each other.

FAQS
Questions about shopify development.
Do you work with Shopify Plus?
Yes, including checkout extensibility, scripts, and B2B features where the plan supports them.
Can you fix our existing theme instead of rebuilding?
Often, yes. If the theme is a modified marketplace theme in reasonable condition, targeted work is usually better value than a rebuild.
Will a custom theme slow the store down?
The opposite, typically. Custom themes ship only the code you use, and most speed problems we find come from unused apps and third-party scripts.
Do you build private apps?
Yes, where a genuine gap exists in the platform or the app market. We will always check the app store first.
